This role offers an opportunity to work in a busy team, whose focus is the provision of MI and technical solutions to the team and their internal clients. The successful applicant will work within Quality & Risk Operations in Cardiff, a Centre of Excellence and division of the firm’s Quality & Risk management function responsible for a variety of quality, risk, regulatory and compliance support activities. Concentrating the efforts in a Centre of Excellence helps to ensure a high standard of compliance with the underlying regulations while enabling client facing teams to devote more of their time to providing services to their clients.


Role description


A successful applicant will be experienced in project and stakeholder management, a self-starter with an exceptionally high level of ICT user competence. Ideally the applicants will have experience in a supporting role in a large organisation and be able to demonstrate the mix of skills and attributes that would enable them to make a real contribution to a busy team operating as a Centre of Excellence for our firm. The successful applicant will be required to react to a variety of issues as they arise in order to be a successful part of this unique team.

You will be based in Deloitte’s Cardiff office.  Occasional travel will be required to other Deloitte offices but we make arrangements respectfully.




This is a permanent role with a degree of flexibility. We do support agile ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. We recognise that our people are juggling careers with commitments and interests outside of work.  




Working closely with the existing team Manager the tasks will include:

  • Stakeholder and project management;
  • Planning, scoping and managing development projects from inception to delivery;
  • Liaising with internal clients to scope out requirements, assess suitability and feasibility, define timescales and agree deliverables;
  • Monitor progress, address any issues, identify scope creep and manage change requests;
  • Manage team to ensure timeliness and quality of deliverables;
  • Training team members and developing their skills to enable them to use ICT to develop solutions, produce required reports, carry out their day to day tasks more effectively, and respond to the needs of the business;
  • Focus on quality within the team, collaborating with the existing management to ensure quality standards are met;
  • Using technology to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of various processes.   
  • Designing and operating systems, tools and processes to facilitate collation and analysis of data.
  • Developing efficient methods for generating Management Information with involvement in routine Reporting.
  • Daily use of Excel to include using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), formulae, pivot tables and other Excel functions to manipulate and analyse data and improve efficiency of processes.
  • Working with applications such as MS SharePoint and InfoPath to design and maintain forms and utilise the data.
  • Managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution


The roles are expected to grow and evolve rapidly both as the Quality & Risk Operations department expands, and in response to regular changes experienced in our operating environment.  Additionally, individuals who demonstrate sufficient capacity and commitment in their primary roles might be given the opportunity to contribute to other projects, thus aiding their personal development.




To qualify for the role you must have:

  • Experience of managing and delivering IT projects;
  • An advanced level of ICT user ability, experience and skills, inc. Microsoft Excel, pivot tables, lookups, Visual Basic for Applications and complex formulae, Microsoft Access databases, SharePoint workflows
  • Knowledge of other applications such as Tableau and Lotus notes would be useful
  • Capability to offer solutions and analyse alternatives
  • Attention to detail and focus on quality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work within our team and across our business.
  • Team working skills and ability to deal with people at all levels
  • The ability to discuss IT needs with a range of people, from those with limited IT experience to in-house IT consultants
  • Effective judgement and decision making
  • Experience of managing IT Developers
  • The ability to work with initiative, managing workload effectively, meeting deadlines & managing stakeholder requirements & expectations
  • Ability to manage and adapt to regular changes;
