UBS Event LogoWe would like to extend a big thank you to everyone that came along to the "Do you need to be a manager to be a leader?" event that we co-hosted with UBS on Wednesday 10th September 2008. The event was very popular and we had only one or two spare seats in the room.

The evening started with a welcome from Georgie Keene, HR at UBS, who was followed by Michele Duke, Managing Director of Management Tomorrow, who presented 'Do you need to be a manager to be a leader?'

Michele gave us her views on what makes a good leader and whether you do need to be a manager to be a leader. She drew on recent studies which identify the thinking patterns of highly effective leaders and shared her thoughts on how to develop these skills to make you more effective whatever your position in the company.

Michele’s presentation was followed by a thank you from Maggie Berry, Director of womenintechnology, and then everyone was able to wander around the gallery and take in the art as well as network over drinks and canapés with female IT professionals from UBS.

We'd like to say a big thank you to UBS for co-hosting the evening and for their continued support of womenintechnology. Particular thanks goes to Georgie Keene of UBS for her welcome speech and her help in organising the event, as well as Georgia Greer of UBS for her help in making the evening a success.

If you would like to get in touch with someone from the UBS team please contact Tina Vadher at tina.vadher@ubs.com or 020 7567 4970.

If you have any questions at all about the event, please don't hesitate to contact Maggie Berry at mberry@womenin.co.uk or on 020 7422 9214 - many thanks!
