Calls for improved travel technology

02/06/2008 Young business people are calling for improvements in travel technology, a new study has found.

Conducted by Barclaycard Business, the research indicates that two-thirds (66 per cent) of business travellers aged between 18 and 39 would like to have access to an onboard wireless facility when flying.

It was also found that 34 per cent of respondents checked in via their mobile phones or the internet.

"Travel technology is constantly evolving, enabling them to do the things they want regardless of location," stated Denise Leleux, Barclaycard Business' Director of Commercial Cards.

She added: "As business travel continues to rise, so too does the need for technological advancements designed to save travellers' time and money."

Recently, Peter Lockley, Head of Transport Policy at the Worldwide Fund For Nature (WWF), stated that technology can be used to make firms more environmentally-friendly, citing video conferencing as cost-efficient and effective at reducing carbon footprints.
