Working while pregnant 'can be beneficial'

04/07/2008 An expert has claimed that working while pregnant can be beneficial to women as it keeps them busy and tends to reduce anxiety about the birth.

Speaking to the New York Daily News, Dr Tamara Kuittinen said that pregnancy can often be a stressful time and that mums-to-be would do well to stay in work.

"There can be some anxiety and having something to do as opposed to sitting at home and waiting for egg to hatch, so to speak, can be really helpful," she told the newspaper.

She added that if they prepare properly, women in business can often work up until the baby is due whether they are in technology jobs or following another career.

Women are increasingly being encouraged to opt for a job in technology or IT due to a growing skills shortage.

Working for top companies including Credit Suisse and Microsoft can help to boost the careers of those looking to stay in the IT and technology sectors.
