Are IT executives reluctant to buy into the cloud?
09/11/2010
Business executives are more interested in buying into the cloud than IT executives, a new survey has found.
Research
by the London School of Economics and Horses for Sources found that business leaders are more attracted to the potential savings and by the way that the technology can transform a business as a whole, while IT executives do not see such potential.
In most cases, more business executives responded positively to the qualities of the cloud, such as being able to quickly implement business apps provisioned in the cloud and access stored data faster.
Michael Dean, head of marketing at the National Computing Centre suggested that IT professionals still see that cloud computing is in its infancy and have questions about providing third parties access to data.
He said: "Traditionally organisations have provided IT services from their own in-house IT department, which often provided them with a higher level of business continuity, because the people are there on the ground.
"Once you start to mess with the cloud you are at risk with continuity issues from your provider."
