BT wants graduates 'interested in technology'

16/09/2009 BT wants graduates 'interested in technology'BT has revealed that it is intending to provide graduate jobs for budding technology enthusiasts this year.

The company indicated that it will offer 130 places in its graduate recruitment scheme in 2009.

This follows previous reports that the telecommunications giant was set to stop bringing in graduates due to the economic climate.

Caroline Waters, director of people and policy at BT, told People Management that the firm's graduate strategy was under review but the scheme would go ahead with a focus on technology.

She commented: "We are a technology company and want people to work with us who enjoy technology.

"We believe there are many, many ways that employers can engage with young people and with graduates. This is a change in emphasis in the way we engage."

She went on to say that the company has invested in altering the online process for applying for graduate positions.

BT announced in May that it was cutting 15,000 jobs due to a drop in profits.
