Competition to get business mentors

10/10/2008 Competition to get business mentorsA competition has been set up to give women in London the chance to learn from the very best of the business world.

Some of the UK's most successful and high-profile businesswomen will be on hand to give ten women expert advice on the working world, including Karen Darby, founder of SimplySwitch.

The contest is being run by Fresh Ideas Events and is supported by the London Business School. A deadline of October 17th has been set for entries.

In order to get involved, women are being urged to submit summaries of their careers, business ideas and ways they think a mentor could help them.

It will be up to judges to decide who they believe has business plans with the greatest chance of success if they receive the backing of a mentor.

Winners will be matched with a suitable mentor and receive help for six months, which will be flexible as well as intense.

A winner's announcement event will take place in BT Tower in Friday November 7th.

A report from Generation Enterprise last year revealed that 48 per cent of people aged 16 and 25 had ambitions to start their own business.
