Could 'exploding' online video advertising market create IT jobs?

31/08/2010 Could 'exploding' online video advertising market create IT...The online video advertising market is 'exploding', a leading industry figure has claimed.

If true, this could result in a number of new jobs in IT being created.

According to Jamie Estrin, managing director of Web TV Enterprise, the UK's largest premium online video advertising network, an increasing number of brands are turning to the medium to market their products.

"The whole online video advertising market is exploding right now. Advertisers are investing heavily into this space because they're seeing a great ROI," he said.

"They've been testing the market for the past 12 to 18 months and now they're investing heavily because they have seen great returns."

Mr Estrin argues that one of the key advantages online video possesses over TV for advertisers is the greater potential for targeting specific demographics that it provides.

His comments follow a recent report by Ofcom which reported that, in the first quarter of 2010, almost a third of UK households with internet access used it to watch online catch-up TV, an eight per cent increase on the year before.
