Dr Clare Gerada wins Woman of Achievement Award

01/12/2011 Dr Clare Gerada wins Woman of Achievement AwardDr Clare Gerada MBE, the chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and medical director of the Practitioner Health Programme, has won this year's Woman of Achievement Award.

Organised by Women in the City, the annual prize recognises women at senior levels of their industry who actively promote and encourage the progress of women.

Dr Gerada said on winning the award this week: "I am absolutely delighted to have won. As the first female chair of the RCGP for more than 50 years, and the chair of the RCGP first predominantly female leadership team, I am truly honoured to be involved in this event recognising the massive achievements made – in all sectors – by women."

She had previously won a Women in the City award for her category of medicine, one of seven women to be recognised at the event. All seven women, working in industries including financial services and technology, then went on to compete for the prestigious Woman of Achievement Award.
