JK Rowling 'most inspirational' role model

09/03/2010 JK Rowling 'most inspirational' role model JK Rowling, creator of Harry Potter, has earned the title of "the most inspirational and admired entrepreneurial female role model for young women in the UK".

Research by The Co-operative Financial Services (CFS) revealed the views of 14-24 year-olds as part of the Inspiring Women Awards.

Following Ms Rowling was fashion designer Stella McCartney and Dragon's Den businesswoman Deborah Meaden.

The study also revealed that 75 per cent believed that it was harder for women to get ahead in a business career and 80 per cent felt that they had to work harder than men to get ahead.

It also showed that 90 per cent of young women thought that they would be more likely to achieve their full potential if there were more role models for women.

Karen Moir, director of organisational development at CFS, said: "Inspiring the next generation to realise their dreams and potential is vital for business and the UK economy if it is to achieve its full potential."
