Memset co-founder named in Top 35 under 35 list
07/07/2009
Kate Craig-Wood has appeared in Management Today magazine's
Top 35 Women Under 35
list.
The co-founder and managing director of web hosting firm
Memset
is the only woman from the technology industry selected by the publication.
Ms Craig-Wood, who is now 32 years old, began her career as an IT consultant at accountancy firm Arthur Andersen.
She then became the head of business development at Easyspace, following which she founded Memset in 2002 with her brother.
On being selected as part of Management Today's list, Ms Craig-Wood said: "As one of the few
women in IT
, I am very concerned about the lack of girls entering the profession and our falling numbers.
"According to the BERR, Intellect and BCS Women in IT scorecard, women now account for less than 11 per cent of IT professionals working within the sector ? I hope that being included in this high-profile list will help demonstrate to girls that a career in IT really can pay off."
