Scotland sees increase in IT jobs

21/02/2012 Scotland sees increase in IT jobsPeople searching for new IT jobs in Scotland will be pleased to hear that January saw a rise in the number of permanent jobs available.

According to the latest Bank of Scotland Report on Jobs, staff placements in both the permanent and temporary sectors slightly increased following a decline in December.

The rise is only slight, but indicates that 2012 could be a year of growth in the recruitment sector.

Commenting on the report, Donald MacRae, chief economist at Bank of Scotland, said: "Despite slowing growth in the eurozone and the UK, the number of people placed into permanent jobs increased after December's decline while the number of vacancies for permanent staff was broadly unchanged from the end of last year. 

"This latest Barometer suggests the Scottish economy is struggling to maintain growth momentum in challenging economic conditions."

However, of all industries, demand for IT and computing staff on both permanent and temporary or contract basis was the highest.
