Senior level women interested in job sharing

06/12/2011 Senior level women interested in job sharingSix in ten women working at a senior level in their company have shown an interest in job sharing, new research shows.

According to a report by The Job Share Project, the practice is becoming more prominent within businesses, particularly as key sponsors like Centrica and KPMG are supporting the concept.

Indeed, 71 per cent of people who are currently job sharing have achieved a promotion they were going for.

The findings also revealed that nine out of ten of the women interested in the practice say it could make the difference between staying in work and leaving their job.

For many women, job sharing can help them create a work-life balance and juggle family care while they continue to climb the ladder to senior positions.

Meanwhile, employers can have the benefit of retaining top female talent and have more committed employees. The research found that productivity through job sharing is increased 30 per cent by having two people working in the same role, who also have different styles and perspectives.

The founders of the Job Share Project, Capability Jane, are running an event on February 6th in London for people to network and learn how to source a job share partner.
