Women graduates in IT offered Guardian bursary
09/03/2010
Women
graduates in IT
and those returning to work are being targeted for one of two bursaries to develop a career in media software development.
Recognising that women are underrepresented in software development, the
Scott Trust Ltd
, parent company of
Guardian Media Group
(GMG) is offering a full bursary to students entering a post-graduate BCS-accredited IT course.
The company encourages women in particular to apply, including those who might not be able to fund a degree for family reasons and women who are looking to return to work.
As well as tuition fees and a subsidiary £5,000 allowance, students will be given a work placement within GMG in media
software development
and have the chance to see the increasingly important role technology plays in new media.
Awardees will not be guaranteed a job with the company at the end of the one-year degree, but other applicants have gone on to work in the group, which publishes
Auto Trader
and the
Manchester Evening News
as well as the Guardian.
The closing date for
applications
is March 15th.
