Women in gaming recognised for first time

12/03/2010 Women in gaming recognised for first timeA new award has been created to recognise women in IT who have specialised in the gaming industry.

The International Women in Gaming Awards began to accept nominations this week for women at any stage in their career to come forward and be considered for the work they do and the efforts that they have made to advance themselves in a competitive and male-dominated sector.

It is hoped by the organisers, the International Gaming Awards, that winners will provide role models to other women and "show it is an industry that offers exciting career opportunities for women on both a national and global basis".

Employers will be provided with the opportunity to recognise the work that their female employees do in their business and help to lead it to success and also see the potential that they have to become industry leaders one day.

Judging the event are six of the leading women in IT today, including Sue Schneider, one of the world's leading experts on the internet gaming industry.
