Workers use technology to be more flexible

19/10/2009 Workers use technology to be more flexibleMore female workers are expected to use mobile devices to work flexibly in the future, a communications expert has claimed.

Comments from Damovo UK followed research from Forrester showing that enterprise mobile workers will make up 73 per cent of the workforce in Europe and the US by 2012.

Workers who only have a wired network access point feel they are restricted, the company explained.

Alex Donnelly, portfolio manager at Damovo UK, said: "We communicate socially through, voice, SMS, email, and social network updates on our mobiles.

"People are recognising what these tools can [do] and want to use them more in the corporate environment. It will create better business efficiencies and more flexible working for users."

Mr Donnelly added that the key to deploying a successful mobile strategy is to ensure the appropriate device management applications are in place to ensure workers receive support.

Further findings from Forrester showed that 68 per cent of businesses expect their spending on mobile devices to either remain the same or increase during 2009.
