Assert Yourself
As many companies struggle in the face of a worldwide recession, many of us may find ourselves caught in a trap of being oversubmissive; either through fear of losing our jobs or out of sheer necessity. This may lead to a vicious cycle of taking on too much - eventually causing anger, stress, aggression, burn-out or fall-out. Do you often find yourself juggling too many commitments and then thinking, why did I take that on?
In a three hour workshop you will learn how to navigate an assertiveness framework that incorporates boundary-setting and assertive strategies tailored to your own personal style. You will learn how to communicate your preferences in a way that leaves you empowered. Follow up coaching sessions will keep you on track.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the half-day workshop, participants will have:
- Developed some assertive strategies for use in the workplace; during negotiations, or when dealing with difficult people or unreasonable requests
- Examined an assertiveness framework that provides a visual model to manage responses with
- Learned the importance of boundary setting and experienced a boundary-setting exercise
The workshop builds the understanding of why women feel compelled to be oversubmissive and the consequences of doing so. Participants will identify situations that induce fear and learn to manage it; whilst highlighting inappropriate responses. Participants will be empowered to continue once the workshop has finished.
