We just wanted to express our thanks to you for coming along to last week's womenintechnology event that was held in association with Cancer Research UK and hosted by Deloitte. We know the evening was a departure from our usual career and personal development topics but we hope you enjoyed it nonetheless and that you left inspired by Suki's story and Kate's work. We would like to hear you feedback so please email us (info@womenin.co.uk) with any comments, suggestions, ideas of topics for future events or areas where you think we could improve things.

There were numerous facts and figures that were new to us last including finding out that Around 289,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK, it is responsible for 1 in 4 deaths, that there are over 200 different types of cancer and that Cancer Research UK spent £333m last year on research.

We would like to thank both of our speakers - Kate Miller, Programming & Planning Manager at Cancer Research UK and Suki Gallagher, Founder of smartfundit.com for their presentations. Kate's slides can be found by clicking here. I would also like to thank Sarah Lyness, Executive Director of Communications and Information at Cancer Research UK and Mary Reilly, Partner, Head of Charities at Deloitte for their insightful participation in the panel Q&A session.

Congratulations go to Michelle Huson and Ling Chan from Thomson Reuters who won the raffle prize of the tour of the Cancer Research UK research laboratories in central London, a box of Molton Brown goodies and champagne. They had bought a £40 strip of tickets between them so well done to them!

Thanks go to Deloitte for hosting the evening and providing the venue, the lovely catering and an events team on hand to help out.

Finally we would very much like to thank Cancer Research UK for running this event with us and we hope that you will consider becoming one of their supporters.
