As the IT profession is very broad, there are many different options to consider when choosing a career in IT.

The Technical Architect job description:

  • Gathers information about products to become familiar with the technologies. Examines development and production activities and studies the product specifications.
  • Understands complex technologies at a high level and is able to write user manuals.
  • Works with developers to make sure they have a complete knowledge of how the software is used because the technical writers are responsible for documenting the information and compiling it into a manual for the public to use.
  • Writes technical materials such as equipment manuals, reports, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Organises material that has been gathered and completes the writing assignment according to set standards.


Skills a Technical Writer may have are:

  • Experience and knowledge in many technical areas (e.g. Macromedia DreamWeaver, Adobe FrameMaker and Microsoft Word).
  • Qualifications in technical writing, professional writing or business communications and most also have a technical background for example programming.
