Simon North – Position Ignition

Simon North is the co-founder of Position Ignition, which offers personal careers advice and guidance to professionals at key stages in their career.    He created the business to provide a premium transition specialist service to professional men and women as they navigate their way through their careers.

Simon is an experienced businessman, coach, trainer and career guide.  His focus is on guiding individuals through a process that he developed some years ago to enable a full consideration of one’s talent and experience and how to ensure that it is utilised effectively ad happily into our elder years. Having developed the approach and framework, Simon now leads other professionals to work with increasing numbers of individuals from many different professional spheres. Simon is responsible for creating the capability and capacity and also maintaining the standards of the guides and coaches with Position Ignition.

Simon’s 30 year career started in HR and has encompassed sales and marketing, operational and general management, consulting and more independent working as director of start-ups and as a non-executive director. He has worked for Rolls-Royce, Shell International, Price Waterhouse, KPMG and IBM, and a range of smaller businesses.  Throughout he has developed increasingly effective processes for leading and guiding individuals through their career options and aspirations

Simon’s leader roles include HR Directorships, Operations Directorships, Managing and Group Managing Directorships as well as founder director of 3 companies. He has held Non-Executive Director positions and also chaired a school’s governing body. He has also worked in interim management and in recent years has worked as a coach, mentor and advisor to both large and small businesses.

Simon’s real interest in helping individuals with their transitions started when as a young professional starting out in HR. His own career choices were opened up for him early and he realised the importance of being in control of your own working life, His work in the late 1980s explored the relationship between an individual and their organisational environment and the impact of individual’s working in teams.  Consistently personal issues impacted on individual performance at work leading to a series of challenges; all of which were manageable in the right context
 
This has led to Position Ignition’s unique framework and approach to how individuals and organisations can manage their careers more effectively.

He studied and holds a degree from Exeter University is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development  and holds a coaching qualification from the International Coach Federation.
