Redundancy: Be prepared

Thursday 9th February 2012, 5.45pm to 9.00pm

In the current economic climate redundancies have became more and more common. It is not unusual to speak with friends and relatives who are going through this traumatic process or have recently lost their job. Many individuals are unaware of their employment rights and do not know what to do when the announcement they are “at risk” of redundancy strucks. Be prepared!

Our presenter, Isabella Brusati, is a legal professional with 15 years’ experience working for FTSE100 companies in the UK. She has managed hundreds of redundancies and is aware of what really happens behind the scenes.

In her 3 hour workshop Isabella will take you through the legal provisions that regulate redundancy and the practises some employers follow when downsizing their workforce, provide pragmatic advice on how to handle the redundancy process to your advantage, some techniques that may spare you from being made redundant and how to negotiate your package and get the highest cheque if you are “on the way out".

Workshop Outcomes
In particular you will:

  • Learn the basics of employment law that regulates redundancy (jargon free)
  • Identify the signs that may point to a redundancy exercise being in the pipeline
  • Develop an action plan if you are the only person in your team targeted for redundancy
  • Develop a strategy if your employer is not acting in compliance with the law
  • Negotiate your way out: the compromise agreement

This course will be facilitated by Isabella Brusati
