What is UBS looking for in an applicant?
We are putting great efforts into our graduate scheme and recruitment for it. We are looking for the right individuals who will be challenged but who will develop and strive within our environment.
Aside academic performance, UBS is looking at specific competencies to match our business and culture: Problem analysis, judgment and decision making, innovation, communication and impact, drive and commitment, team work, planning and organizing.
Within IT you will be expected to own projects from start to finish, breaking down the problem, carrying out analysis, taking decisions, planning and organizing your work to reach the deadline. You will very frequently find that you need to set your own deadlines and manage your clients, internal or external, accordingly.
A strong technical background is essential whether you become a developer, a business analyst or a project manager. However it needs to be complemented by a number of other skills.
You should enjoy team work and be able to communicate effectively with both team mates and clients, setting common goals and expectations. You should be willing to share you own ideas and develop them with your colleagues. You should also have a positive attitude towards new technologies, new methodologies and new approaches and an inquisitive mind showing interested in both the technical and business/financial aspects of UBS. Remember that the technology that we develop is in aid of the business and hence understanding of it, will help you in your role. |
